Now what are some of the biggest emotions that come up when you’re moving towards a big (or smaller) change in your life?
You might feel fearful, ignore what’s coming, get angry at people or yourself, obsess about it, force yourself into something or simply get into a little shock.
ALL OF THOSE EMOTIONS ARE AN EXPRESSION OF RESISTANCE
This is normal: when something big happens, it means we have to let go of an old part of us.
Since our mind & ego tends to identify with events that have happened to us (‘I have low self-esteem because something bad happened in the past.’ or ‘I can’t commit to anything: that’s simply who I am because I never had a good example.’), your mind will resist this change because it doesn’t know who it will be in the new situation.
Let’s say you’re moving to a different country. Your mind freaks out because it has no idea what the new you will be without everything you are in your current hometown.
Since we are not our mind & our identity isn’t shaped by what we do in life, we actually can relax into the process of transitioning & let the mind know that everything is fine.
Think of nature: trees and plants have no problem transitioning into the next season: they simply surrender to the process of letting go of the old and blossoming into the new, each year, their whole life.
HERE ARE 3 STEPS FOR A SMOOTH TRANSITION INTO YOUR NEW JOURNEY
1. surrender: realise that you are transitioning each day. change is inevitable: you left a part of your old self one minute ago when you transitioned into the next minute : ) surrender into the wave that is life itself. it’s ok to feel grief right now: that’s part of the process of surrendering & letting go. go with whatever you feel and don’t resist it.
2. release: now that you’ve surrendered into the process of transitioning, start to release any luggage that you don’t have to take with you into. what is holding you back from experiencing this new adventure in all it’s colour? write it down & let it go.
3. encourage: give yourself a pat on the shoulder. you’re actually transitioning! great job. tap into the strength that is living inside of you, waiting to be released. say yes to this new adventure & make it the best yet!

SURRENDER IN CHILD’S POSE
stretch your arms out in front of you while your sit bones rest on your heels.
focus on completely surrendering to the earth & to this new challenge in life, don’t hold back.
RELEASE IN LEGS UP THE WALL
rest your hips and low back on a pillow or rolled up mat, rest your heels against the wall.
feel the complete release in this pose. every exhale, release even deeper into the pose.
ENCOURAGE IN HERO POSE
sit on your heels with your toes curled under. with the fingers of your right hand, hook the fingers of your left hand. pull slightly on your fingers until you feel your arm muscles activate.
feel the strength that you have inside of you. the only thing you need to do is allow it to be used.
